The aims were:
- A professional development resource that helps new copyeditors build their skills, confidence, experience, professional network, and client base
- An affordable way for writers to explore the copyediting process and find editors who can be long-term creative collaborators
- Trained copyeditors wanting to invest in their professional development (see EDITORS page)
- Independent writers wanting to take their craft to the next level with affordable professional editing (see WRITERS page)
- Small nonprofit organizations wanting to improve the quality of their written materials (see NONPROFITS page)
- Subscribers could choose their copyeditors
- There was no limit to the number of times a single manuscript could be submitted
- Writers had the opportunity to work with many copyeditors, and copyeditors got to apply their skills to many types of writing
- Most types of fiction and nonfiction manuscripts written in American English
