Our Services
We provided either light or medium copyediting, depending on the needs of the manuscripts.
1. LIGHT
The copy editor corrects errors in spelling, punctuation, grammar, and usage, and also flags major inaccuracies and inconsistencies.
2. MEDIUM
The copy editor corrects errors in spelling, punctuation, grammar, and usage; checks citations or key facts; and flags any inconsistency, redundancy, repetition, poor word choice, wordiness, overuse of the passive voice, poor logic or lack of clarity, incorrect idiomatic usage, and biased language.
The Agency did NOT provide heavy copyediting. Any manuscript with too many structural or content issues were rejected.
Project Style Sheet
A project style sheet helps authors and editors keep track of details and maintain consistency throughout a manuscript of substantial length, such as a novel or an in-depth report. The style sheet identifies specific choices made regarding punctuation, spelling, numbers, special treatment or formatting of words, and other such matters. Embark helped clients decide if a project style sheet would be useful.
NOTES ABOUT OUR SERVICE
IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT NONPROFITS
All nonprofit partners were required to have a House Style Guide, but if they didn't have one (or know what one is), we helped!

NOTES ABOUT OUR SERVICE
- Editors used Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary.
- Depending on the nature of the content, editors followed Chicago Manual of Style and house style guides, where applicable. We did our best to accommodate requests involving other styles.
- We were an electronic editing service and did not accept hardcopy manuscripts. We accepted manuscripts in Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx formats) or Office-compatible software and applications, such as Google Docs.
