Shayna K. was a founding member of Embark when it launched in early 2016. She quickly got stuck in and volunteered for as many assignments as she could. She (sadly) left the Agency in September 2016 because (happily) she landed a full-time, in-house editing job! She says working with the Agency was key to finding paid employment: "Embark opened lots of doors. My experience working on the "Su Camino" project helped me land an author client of my own, and I built up further skills by practicing with Got Science and other Embark clients."

What is the Agency?
Embark was a professional development resource for copyeditors who were just starting out and found themselves in a catch-22: "I can't get a job if I don't have experience, but I can't get experience if I don't have a job." By working pro bono with the Agency, editors could quickly build (or diversify) their résumé, enabling them to compete for paying jobs and contracts.
